Retail Therapy

Shopping.  In a city of 8.3 million people, there is a lot of shopping to be done.  "Hey Dave, do you want to go shopping?" is usually met with "Only if it's for bike parts," at our house.  Unfortunately for Dave, we  haven't come across any bike stores here.  Fortunately, most malls have entire floors devoted to electronics, pubs and other manly things.  Hello man-sitter!

Armed with a few photos, my friend Eva and I set out to try on wedding dresses.  How hard could it be?  I mean, we don't speak the language, but surely pantomiming "this dress makes me look like a cupcake," can't be that challenging.  Shop 1 presented some lovely dresses made entirely of feathers.  (Awesome, but can that be brought in to Canada?).  Shop 2 had splendid dresses, if you were Queen Victoria.  Shop 3 had "Thai Size" only, which did little for the self esteem, and left very little to the imagination.  That brings us to shop 4, a beautiful boutique in the Thong Lo area.  We had our own studio, and the shop girls brought in dress after dress to try on.  I was a little sad that my mom and sister could not be there, but I was thinking about them!

It's cliche, but I "said yes to the dress".  After 2 fittings and 3 days, the dress is done and ready to be shipped home.  Now to start planning that wedding...
