96 Hours

4 days.  WHAT!  That can't  be.  We're leaving in 4 days?  Checks tickets.  Confirmed, we're leaving!

As unbelievable as it feels right now, we're both beyond excited to be starting an adventure that has been a pipe dream for so long.  With Dave's PhD complete and my leave of absence from the hospital about to begin, the time has come to escape Edmonton's pending winter.  We've got one way tickets to Thailand booked, with plans to touch down in Phoenix and Hawaii en route!

Rewind 15 months.  It's a warm evening at Flathead Lake.  Grandpa has started an impressive bonfire.  We're roasting marshmallows and marvelling over how cheap 12 packs of PBR are from gas stations in the states. Aunt Carol tells us about this thing called jogging she has gotten in to (is that a silent J?)  She ran a 1/2 marathon earlier in the year, and was telling us how much fun it was!  A dim light bulb went off in my head when Carol mentioned one particular race that is ran in Phoenix each November - Hmmm, Arizona.  It's nice there in November!

Over the past year, we have schemed and dreamed about places we want to see.  It seems logical to start our trip with a 13 mile jaunt through the saguaros of the Sonoran Desert.  We know we have to go West from there, which means a stop in Maui for some Aloha is necessary (it's a long way over that Pacific!).  Once we get our fill of pineapples and beautiful sunsets, we'll be heading to South East Asia.

4 Days!!
